Touch Screen Design II

Nito

In 2009, while working at the University of Central Florida Institute for Simulation and Training, I performed an upgrade of all the hardware in the C2V simulator. We could not find a suitable 17″ touch screen monitor, so I decided to design and build my own. The only COTS components where the LCD panel and the touch screen glass; I designed and built the enclosure, controls board, and wiring harness. I built seven monitor total; six plus one spare. For the enclosure I used an aluminum sheet metal design, using eMachineShop.com CAD and fabrication services. For the controls board, I used Pad2Pad PC board design software and fabrication services.
